There is another Cyprus beyond the coastline. In the Troodos Mountains, the landscape changes quickly: pine forests, winding roads, cooler air and villages where the seasons are much more distinct.

Platres village has always had a special place among them. A mountain retreat since the late 19th century, it attracted generations of visitors from Cyprus and abroad — royalty, writers and artists. King Farouk of Egypt stayed here, Nobel Prize-winning poet Giorgos Seferis wrote about this place, and Daphne du Maurier spent time in the village while working on Rebecca.

That history remains part of Platres village today, but the village is no longer simply a nostalgic mountain retreat. Restaurants and cafés, hotels, wellness facilities and Platres Arena make everyday life here easy, while waterfalls, forest trails and the wider Troodos area are all close by. Limassol, meanwhile, is around 40 minutes away by car.

It is in this setting that Greenwood at Platres, a collection of just six detached houses by Property Gallery, is taking shape among the pine forest surroundings.

The architecture of the houses reminds the traditional chalet style, with pitched roofs, natural materials and generous glazing. Inside, six-metre-high vaulted living rooms bring light and volume, while a fireplace in every house brings warmth and character to the interiors. Spacious verandas extend everyday life outdoors.

The changing seasons are part of life at Greenwood. In winter, Platres can see snowfall and temperatures can fall below zero. This is when the fireplace becomes the heart of the house — somewhere to come back to after a walk in the snow and enjoy the warmth and quiet of an evening in the mountains.

As the weather changes, so does the way the house is used. The verandas become a natural place for breakfast, reading or spending time outdoors, while selected houses have their own swimming pools. The pine forest is always close, whether for a walk on a cool morning or simply as the backdrop to everyday life.

The three- and four-bedroom houses are designed for year-round living, with parking and the convenience of an established village infrastructure nearby. New Greenwood owners also receive first-year access to the gym, spa and pool at Pendeli Resort.

Greenwood brings a contemporary way of living into that setting, with houses designed not simply for an occasional escape, but for spending real time in the mountains.
